Each season as the warm weather turns cooler, we love to make Fire Cider. And it's always best using fresh ingredients from the garden. You may not be able to go outside and harvest your own Apples & Cinnamon, but you can grow Ginger & Turmeric - two of the most potent ingredients in this special brew that chases away the sniffles and scratchy throat!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup grated ginger
- 1/2 cup grated turmeric
- 1/2 cup chopped apples
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 lemons, sliced
- 1 quart raw apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey (optional)
Instructions:
1. Combine the ginger, turmeric, apples, cinnamon sticks, and lemons in a clean glass jar.
2. Pour the apple cider vinegar over the ingredients, making sure they are completely covered.
3. Seal the jar with a lid and store in a dark, cool place for 2-4 weeks, shaking the jar daily.
4. After 2-4 weeks, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a clean jar or bottle.
5. Add honey to taste if desired.
6. Store the fire cider in the refrigerator and consume a shot daily or as needed for an immune boost.
Enjoy your homemade fire cider!
